Investing in solar and wind in the UK and beyond

We’re building a future that runs on clean, green energy – not just here in the UK, but all across the globe. This is why Octopus Energy Generation have just invested in East Anglia One – one of the biggest offshore wind farms on the planet. It’s already been powering around 700,000 British homes a year with clean, green electricity, and now we’re helping take it even further.

This is our fourth major UK offshore wind investment – and our seventh across Europe.

The goal? To harness more of the natural power Britain has in abundance, and make the most of our long coastlines and windy weather. Wind power is already a cornerstone of our country’s energy – and the more of it we build, the cheaper and greener energy becomes for all of us.

This East Anglia project alone is massive – 714 megawatts from 102 turbines out at sea, delivering enough homegrown power to keep the lights on in cities from Norwich to Newcastle. It joins our other UK wind stakes in Hornsea One, Lincs, and Walney Extension – and it’s all part of our mission to invest in future-proof energy here at home.

But we’re not just betting on the breeze in Britain…

In South Korea, Octopus Energy Generation have just backed a team of expert local developers to build 20 brand new solar farms. They’ll be up and running in the next two years and are set to power 45,000 homes a year with clean energy.

South Korea is one of the world’s most tech-savvy nations – but it still relies heavily on coal. That’s changing fast. The country’s aiming to triple its share of renewables by 2038, and solar is a huge part of that plan. We’re proud to be part of this green transformation – helping kickstart new projects, clean up the grid, and build a more sustainable energy future across Asia.

Meanwhile, in France, we’ve just locked in four new clean energy deals – boosting our wind and solar portfolio there past 500 megawatts. That’s enough to power 150,000 French homes.

We’re building solar farms on repurposed military land, installing wind turbines from Aisne to Nouvelle-Aquitaine, and even expanding agri-solar – where solar panels and farming share the same land to boost biodiversity and support rural communities. We also supply half a million energy customers in France already – and we’ve launched our famous Fan Club there too, giving cheaper rates when the wind is blowing near you.

Every time we invest in new renewable energy – whether it’s in Suffolk or Seoul – it brings us closer to a cheaper, more secure, more sustainable energy system. These aren’t far-off, distant projects. They power homes. They bring down bills (when built hand-in-hand with customer-first market reform, but that’s a story for another day). They cut carbon. They matter.
